About UV coatings
UV is the abbreviation of Ultraviolet Rays in English, that is, ultraviolet rays. UV coating refers to the resin coating cured by ultraviolet radiation, that is, the polymer resin coating that uses ultraviolet light as the curing energy source and quickly crosslinks to form a film at room temperature.
UV (ultraviolet) coating is a new type of surface treatment material that emerged internationally in the late sixties of the twentieth century. Under the irradiation of ultraviolet light, the coating instantly undergoes a photochemical reaction and solidifies into a film. Due to the growing environmental awareness, many countries around the world have enacted legislation to strictly limit the VOC (volatile organic solvent) content in coatings. UV coatings have high solid content and low VOC content, and are known as green and environmentally friendly coatings in the twentieth century, and are now growing at a rate of 10-15% per year.
Shot curing technology has gradually expanded from a single substrate of wood to the coating application of paper, various plastics, metals, stones, and even cement products, fabrics, leather and other substrates. The appearance of processed products has also developed from the initial high-gloss type to matte type, pearlescent type, bronzing type, texture type, etc., to meet different needs.
Compared to traditional self-drying and baking coatings, UV-curable coatings have the following features:
(1) Fast curing speed: The curing mechanism of UV coating is a free radical polymerization chain reaction, which can be completed in an instant, and the designed production line speed can reach up to 100 m/min, and the workpiece can be packaged after the production line, with high production efficiency
(2) Cold curing: suitable for plastics and other workpieces that are prone to thermal deformation;
(3) Energy saving: UV coatings rely on ultraviolet light, and the energy consumption of the general production line is within 50KW;
(4) Low environmental pollution: UV coating has a very low VOC content and is recognized as a green product;
(5) Excellent coating performance: the cross-linking density of UV coating after curing is much higher than that of hot resin coating, so the performance indicators of the coating in hardness, wear resistance, acid and alkali resistance, salt spray resistance, solvent resistance and other aspects are very high;
(6) Low failure of coating equipment: because UV coating will not be cured without ultraviolet irradiation, it will not block and corrode the equipment, and the coating tools and pipelines are easy to clean;
(7) Low equipment investment cost The curing device is simple, easy to maintain, occupies little space, and has low equipment investment.
